Today, on Oct. 28, for the first time ever, NYC legislation will be holding a hearing on street harassment of women and girls. Elizabeth Mendez Berry’s op-ed about street harassment in El Diario, the largest Spanish language newspaper in the country, inspired the hearing.
Who knows what will come of this, but it’s an opportunity to be heard in front of politicians in power, on a subject that is often shrugged away as inevitable and unsolvable. RightRides, HollaBack, and Girls for Gender Equity will all be testifying, along with anyone else who would like to tell their story, at 1:00 p.m. in the 14th Floor Committee Room, 250 Broadway, New York, N.Y. Please come if you can make it.
