Improvements Coming to NYCHA:
Yesterday, the Mayor’s Office announced that it would adopt many of my proposals for the reform of NYCHA (laid out in my Reforming NYCHA report), including greater tenant participation on the NYCHA board, the elimination of six-figure salaries for board members, and the release of a Boston Consulting Group report prepared for NYCHA.
These changes will improve the lives of the 650,000 New Yorkers serves. Still, we have a lot more work to do to make sure NYCHA’s housing stock is a safe place to raise a family. We owe it to every tenant to ensure that NYCHA is prepared to offer safe, quality, affordable housing for decades to come.
